It is often said that the first man to use hydroponic systems for growing plants and vegetables was the Roman Emperor Tiberius during the first century, however we know with fairly greater certainty that only in the late 17th century did we start truly implementing hydroponics.
At first, the rudimentary hydroponics were merely a way of distributing water, however over the course of next four centuries they have evolved immensely. Today, we have six distinct hydroponic weed systems that have proven worthy over the years.
A hydroponic system is a growing technique that heavily (if not completely) relies on water delivering nutrients to the plants roots without any soil involvement. However, in some cases hydroponic systems are used more as a supplementary water distribution technique – primarily the Drip Irrigation systems.

Thanks for reading through the whole eBook John! I'm really hoping your wick system works, hit me up if you need any advice or tips on that! However, if this is your first time I strongly recommend the Deep Water Culture technique as it really has the least potential problems that can pop up!

Can you just tell me with deep water culture, how long does it generally take to go from seed to fully grown plant and ready for harvest?

Hi Katy, depending on strains it may take longer, but most cannabis plants are ready for harvest around the 12th or 13th week, depending if you count week 0 (when you plant the seeds and they still haven't grown, this takes a few days). So to answer your question - 12 weeks at least. After that it's up to you.

Hey Alex! I like the section on hydroponics a lot!! My question to you is, is it possible to convert a plant currently in soil to DWC?

Um, I'm sure it's possible, but it will also cause great trauma to the plant as it's roots would have to adjust to a completely new system so I'd seriously consider all my options before doing that

I have a plant I’ve been growing outside for 2 months in my hydro tower garden, it looks like it ready to harvest, I can I know for sure ?

There's a couple signs you should easily see. The pistils need to become dark, if they are still very white don't harvest yet. The trichomes are also a good sign - about 60-70% milky trichomes, 15% amber trichomes and 15% clear trichomes is what you should be going for.
