American rapper Snoop Dogg is the new brand ambassador for cannabis company Seedo in a move that is sure to create some buzz for the Israeli start-up.
Seedo, founded in 2013, manufactures indoor home-growing boxes that use artificial intelligence to help consumers cultivate cannabis plants without prior knowledge of the procedure.
The hermetically sealed boxes can be paired with smartphones via the Haifa-based company’s app, which then implements a fully-automated custom growth plan resulting in “maximum yields using minimum living space & energy,” according to Seedo’s website.
The app regularly sends updates about the plant’s health and progress.
The famous marijuana advocate will “work closely with the company to achieve optimal consumer awareness of this innovative technology,” according to a press release.
The partnership also entails educating consumers on the environmental benefits of Seedo’s products as well as a social responsibility program that will kick off in Snoop’s hometown of Long Beach, California.
Under this program, Seedo will donate its products to local communities.
“Promoting a healthier lifestyle by providing my friends and communities with products that allow for growth in unused urban spaces is something I’m all the way down with. Seedo creates cost savings and the opportunity for all people to benefit from agricultural technologies,” the rapper said.
The hip-hop legend’s love of weed is well-known, with Snoop referencing marijuana smoking in numerous songs.
He is also the proud owner of his own cannabis brand, launched in 2015 in Denver, Colorado. Leafs by Snoop is produced by Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth and features a variety of strains and edibles, including the indica-dominant Snoop Dogg OG strain.
Recently, he also revealed he has a full-time “professional blunt roller” on his staff. Snoop’s weed assistant makes $40 to $50,000 a year and accompanies him on his travels.
“We are honored to partner with an industry icon like Snoop Dogg. Snoop’s vast global following, industry influence, and network reach will provide us an invaluable resource for Seedo as we continue to grow,” Seedo’s chief executive Zohar Levy commented on the new partnership.
