After the huge success with Yocan Evolve Plus (you can read our review here), Yocan – the biggest vaporizer manufacturer from China – has gone a step further and designed the Magneto.

Although you may not know it, Yocan Magneto has been advertised as “the game changer in concentrate vaping.” It has all the features of Evolve Plus, but also several new ones. That said, we have decided to test it out and write an honest review.

Yocan magneto highlights
What sets Magneto apart from other vape pens available on the market is the magnetic connection it uses.
Ditching the old thread connection, Yocan decided to simplify the usage by making the pen magnetic. All parts except the battery use magnets, making it simple to use.
The pick tool is also a part of the pen, so that’s one less thing for you to carry around. It’s integrated into the mouthpiece, so all you need to do is detach the dab, unscrew the jar and pick up some wax.
Many vape pens on the market today have a jar built into the pen. However, Magneto’s 2 ml jar is lined with silicone to protect the freshness of your wax and keep it from sticking.
Another great feature of Yocan Magneto is the double-layer ceramic coil. Once you turn your pen on, the wax melts on the first layer of the coil and then proceeds to the second one to atomize.
The ceramic improves the durability of the pen since it can withstand high temperatures but also gives a cleaner hit, without any burnt or metallic taste.
Battery specs
Yocan Magneto comes with a powerful 1100 mAh battery and a micro USB cable for charging. The micro USB allows you to charge your vape pen via multiple sources: laptop, PC, TV, game consoles or car charger when you’re travelling.
When used moderately, the battery will last up to several days. The battery fully charges in about 2.5 hours. If you see the light blinking 10 times, you’ll need to recharge your battery.
The design
We can safely say Magneto is a small-sized vape pen. At only 4.3 inches, it can fit into your palm or your back pocket. There’s only one button, which makes it easy to use.
The downside is that the device has no temperature control, so it’ll take a bit of practice to get used to it. Basically, you need to know how long you should keep the button pressed to your desired temperature.
Yocan Magneto is made of stainless steel, giving it an elegant and sleek look. All the materials used in its manufacture are high-quality and comes in five different colors to suit anyone.
Instructions for use
The simplified design makes Magneto easy to use. First of all, you need to detach the mouthpiece to get the dabber tool. Then unscrew the jar to get your wax.
If you’re using the pen for the first time, you need to fill the jar before you start, as it doesn’t come with wax included.
Put the pick tool back and turn the pen on by pressing the button five times quickly. Then hold down the button to start vaping. Easy as that. You decide how long to keep it on, depending on the taste.
To turn the pen off, press the power button five times in a row. The procedure is the same for turning it on or off.
Maintenance
If you like your new Magneto pen and would like to enjoy it for more than a day, you need to clean it and maintain it properly.
In general, coils can last up to a month if you use them moderately. If you’re a heavy smoker, don’t be surprised if they burn in 5 days. Luckily, you can purchase replacement coils, so you don’t need to chuck your pen away. Our advice is to buy an extra set of coils when you purchase the pen, so you don’t end up waiting for the new ones to arrive.
When it comes to cleaning, all you need is a Q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol. Dip the swab in the alcohol to clean the mouthpiece and the battery.
Some parts, like the silicone jar and the cap, can be soaked in alcohol for a couple of hours. Once you’re done cleaning, rinse the parts with water to remove any alcohol residue. It would be best to clean your pen after every use. It may seem like a drag, but it becomes easier over time.
Oh, and one more thing. Never leave wax on the coils when you’re done smoking. It’ll be harder to remove and will affect the longevity of your pen.
Yocan magneto vapor quality
Yocan Magneto delivers some good vapor. The producers claim that the unique double-layer coil system is what’s responsible for the device’s smooth hits and clean taste.
To speed up the process, they’ve even added holes on the sides of the pen, making your vaping experience smoother. This allows the vaporization process to speed up.
Note that it’s best to hold it vertically. This prevents the wax from sticking on the sides of the coil chamber. By holding it upright, you’ll both save your wax and get better hits.
We’ve come to the conclusion that Magneto works best with smaller amounts of wax. Don’t use up the entire container (2 ml) in one session. The container comes with you, so there is no need to overdo it.
Pros and cons
So given the above observances we had about this device, we can sum up the pros and cons like this:

Is Yocan Magneto worth it?
Short answer: yes.
Long answer: After several weeks of testing, and having had some ups and downs along the way, we can safely say that we believe it’s worth it.
The simplistic design may trick you at first if you think you’ll get it on quickly. The fact is, you’ll need some practice. Imagine falling in love at first sight and your crush leaving for a holiday – the worst ten days ever!
It’s the same thing with the Yocan Magneto – you need to be patient and determined. Once you get going, nothing’s gonna stop you.
